Local Contests

How to Organize a Local Bridge Design Contest

The Bridge Designer can be used very effectively as a vehicle for internet-based engineering competitions, for three reasons:

  • The Bridge Designer allows for the creation of a nearly limitless variety of bridge designs.
  • The quality of a design can be judged according to one simple, objective criterion — low cost (given that the design passes the Bridge Designer’s simulated load test).
  • Because the software is free, a contest that uses the Bridge Designer will be accessible to any student who has access to the internet and a Windows or Mac computer.
